The Viper utilizes a “Smart defrost” system. There is a 3-hour revolving clock that monitors the volume of product entering the barrels. Should anything less than ~40 to 45oz. per hour of FCB product per any barrel be dispensed within a 3-hour timeframe the barrel will perform a defrost. Only one barrel is allowed to be defrosted at a time. If a barrel is in defrost and a customer pours a drink from another barrel, defrost on that barrel will suspend until the other barrel(s) are frozen and satisfied. Located on each freeze barrel (evaporator) refrigeration outlet line is a thermistor (temperature sensor). Once the sensor reaches 41F, defrost will be terminated. The typical defrost and recovery is ~ 12 minutes. The minimum time for a Defrost cycle is 4 minutes with the maximum time for a Defrost cycle including suspension being 20 minutes.
Note: Motor calibration takes place at the end of a programmed defrost cycle to account for possible mechanical change.
